The end user is a governmental company that focuses on transportation planning, operating public transportation and managing urban parking spaces and traffic monitoring centers. Unlike the Modern Cities, some rural areas without Fiber Optics, is very difficult to collect data from traffic light controller. So 3G / 4G is becoming more and more popular in those rural areas.

Challenge

As the demand for transportation continues to grow, more and more rural areas require more 3G/4G industrial routers to collect data from traffic light controllers and transfer them to SCADA control centers, making sure that the Traffic Light System is working normally and efficiently.

 

Key needs for Traffic Control System:

• Robust Design: Work stable in harsh environment with strong humidity, high / low working temperature range. 

• More Function: OpenVPN, DMVPN.

• More Industrial Interfaces: Ethernet Ports, RS485.

On this application, NR500 provides reliable low latency communications on 4G network and also establishes VPN (OpenVPN / DMVPN) tunnel with Center's VPN server. Center's computers can remote access the traffic control system through the VPN network. SCADA Center is used to read the data from Controller which connected to the RS485 side of NR500.
