Industrial Hardware Customization for Factory

A Germany-based industrial automation company specializing in PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and EtherNet/IP technologies partnered with us to jointly develop a customized industrial communication solution for factory automation deployments.

Leveraging our extensive experience in industrial networking and protocol integration, the project focused on building a highly reliable communication platform capable of supporting both traditional industrial control systems and next-generation smart sensor connectivity.

The customized solution was designed specifically for demanding industrial environments, providing seamless compatibility with classic PROFINET networks while also enabling communication with intelligent field sensors and edge devices. This allowed the customer to modernize factory infrastructure without disrupting existing automation architectures.

Development Challenges

Industrial automation environments require deterministic communication, long-term operational stability, and strict interoperability across multi-vendor systems. During development, several technical challenges were addressed:

  • Multi-Protocol Compatibility
Ensuring stable interoperability between PROFINET infrastructure, intelligent sensors, and Ethernet-based industrial devices required extensive protocol adaptation and validation.

  • Deterministic Industrial Communication
Factory automation systems depend on predictable low-latency communication. The hardware and software architecture were optimized to minimize transmission delays and maintain real-time responsiveness.

  • Industrial Reliability Requirements
The solution needed to operate continuously under vibration, electrical noise, temperature fluctuations, and harsh factory conditions using industrial-grade components and reinforced design.

  • Legacy System Integration
Many industrial sites still rely on existing PLCs and fieldbus architectures. The platform was engineered to integrate smoothly with deployed automation equipment while enabling future expansion.

  • Scalable Sensor Connectivity
Supporting large numbers of smart sensors introduced challenges related to network management, bandwidth allocation, and stable long-term device communication.

Project Outcome

The jointly developed platform successfully delivered a reliable and scalable industrial networking solution tailored for modern factory automation. By combining traditional industrial protocol compatibility with intelligent sensor connectivity, the solution helped accelerate industrial digitalization while preserving the stability and reliability required in manufacturing environments.
